Wow! Last Night. A room full of the most powerful people in Hollywood and nothing but love. Emotions ran high. I get it. Art is beautiful. Life. Everything. You spend years, sometimes 12 years, working on your art. You put it out there and the world falls for it and then it's time for the reward. You get together with your peers and suddenly something magical happens.
Well that's what I saw last night. From the music to the speeches...I heard passion, love, humbleness and truth. Take note from the winners last night. NEVER be afraid to stand up for what you believe in! That's the Hollywood I know. The Hollywood I grew up with and the Hollywood I love. It's also the Hollywood I have wanted a piece of since I was 8 years old. What I didn't realize is I have always had a piece of it. When I see something that moves me...I want to create. Winning. I also want to learn everything about it and obsessively discuss it with everyone. Winning. Well don't ask my friends about that part. It's probably why I have like 5 friends. Anyway, the point is that it all inspires me. And I'm a better person when I'm inspired. Who doesn't want that?
Ok. Enough about me...did you see all the movies? What did you think? I saw 4 of the 8 best pic nominees. Grand Budapest Hotel, Boyhood, Birdman and American Sniper. I thought Boyhood was fantastic, raw, honest and at times gut wrenching. Definitely good and epic with the 12 year filming schedule. Richard Linklater is the man. American Sniper was also real, sad and brutal. GBH - anything Wes Anderson does is a win in my book. Love him. Now for Birdman. I loved it. Seems like the Academy did too. Talk about honesty, that movie is drenched in it. Reality, ego, sadness. It was the perfect combo including cinematography. Beautifully shot. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the movies.
Next year we are GOING BIG OR GOING HOME!!! Movie marathon followed by a party Sunday night. Gowns will be worn, awards will be given out and champagne will be had whilst walking down the red carpet with the paparazzi snapping pics...of us....in Olathe. I can't wait to write my speech!!!!
